After settling in, you can relax at the hotel or explore the vibrant Thamel area for any final shopping. Your Pikey Peak Trek begins with an adventurous jeep ride from Kathmandu to Dhap Bazaar. This 7-8 hour journey follows the Sunkoshi River, offering breathtaking views of Nepal’s countryside, including lush forests, terraced rice fields, and meandering rivers. As you approach Ghurmi Village, the scenery transitions to expansive vistas and terraced landscapes. The trail then continues through villages like Hilepani, Manebhanjyang, Ketuke Buddha, Gurung Dada, and Siddhicharan, the headquarters of the Okhaldhunga District. After a few more hours of driving from the headquarters, you’ll reach Dhap Bazaar, where you’ll experience a lively market atmosphere and enjoy spectacular views of the Everest range, making for an unforgettable start to your trek.

Beginning your Pikey Peak Trek, you’ll start at Dhap Bazaar and head towards Sigane, where the stunning Numbur Himal peaks come into view. The trek starts with a stretch along a road under construction, leading you through forests, streams, and farmlands. Along the way, you might encounter friendly locals, grazing yaks, and local life, all while catching glimpses of majestic peaks like Mt. Everest, Mt. Numbur, and Mt. Karyolung. After a 5-6 hour hike, you’ll reach the charming village of Jhapre (2920 m). Perched above a deep valley, Jhapre offers breathtaking views of Everest and the Numbur Himal, along with a stupa and a small Buddhist monastery, making it a perfect spot for an overnight stay.

After Jhapre, the Pikey Peak Trek continues with an ascent to the grassy ridge at Bhulbhule, where you’ll be treated to views of the Everest range. From Bhulbhule, the trail splits, and you’ll take the right side uphill path towards Pikey Peak. Along the way, you’ll pass by a mani stone wall and ancient yak homes. The trail then winds through a forested path near Taklung Danda, where you’ll find a vibrant display of rhododendrons, especially if trekking in spring. You will cross the samsing Bhanjhyanga and takes about two hours from the edge of the forest to reach the Pikey Peak base camp.

One of the highlights of your Pikey Peak Trek unfolds today as you set out early to catch the sunrise from Pikey Peak. The route is straightforward, ascending directly from Base Camp and tracing the western face of the mountain. As the sun rises, you’ll be rewarded with stunning views of the Thamserku peak (6623m) dominating the horizon. Soon after, you’ll encounter fluttering prayer flags and catch sight of Pikey Peak’s summit.

Turning your gaze back, you’ll see Mt. Everest and an impressive panorama of the Himalayan range, including six other 8,000-meter peaks: Lhotse, Makalu, Annapurna, Manaslu, Kanchenjunga, and Dhaulagiri. After soaking in the summit views, you’ll descend to Base Camp and then continue through a pine grove. The crisp, clean air at over 3600 meters will invigorate you. Your trek will conclude with an overnight stay at Jasmane Bhanjyana.

After breakfast in Jasmane Bhanjyang, you’ll embark on a forest trail and meander through meadows before following a broad gravel road to Junbesi. This charming village, home to Sherpa, Magar, and Tamang communities, greets you with inviting tea houses, the renowned Thupten Chyoling Monastery, and a vibrant atmosphere.

Junbesi, set against a backdrop of rivers, a lively monastery, and snow-capped hills, offers a picturesque mountain retreat. After a few days of trekking, you’ll appreciate the variety of teahouses available for rest and relaxation. Once you arrive, enjoy a delicious lunch and explore the famous Thupten Chyoling Monastery. The rest of the day is yours to leisurely enjoy the village and its surroundings.

After breakfast, you’ll descend along the dusty Pikey Peak Trekking Trail following the Junbesi Khola until you reach a steel suspension bridge. Crossing the bridge will lead you to Beni Ghat. From there, continue on the scenic path to Phaplu, where you can fully immerse yourself in Sherpa culture. In Phaplu, enjoy local food and drinks, adding a unique cultural experience to your trek. You can also take some time to explore the area around Phaplu Airport.

Today, you’ll head back to Kathmandu by shared jeep, departing Phaplu early in the morning around 5:00 AM. The drive takes approximately 8 to 9 hours, bringing you to Kathmandu in the afternoon. After a short transfer to your hotel, you’ll have the rest of the day to relax and explore the city. In the evening, the company will host a farewell dinner to celebrate the successful completion of your Pikey Peak Trek.

Today marks the end of your unforgettable Everest Base Camp Trek. After 14 exciting days of exploration, one of our representatives will escort you to the International Airport for your departure flight.
