TRIP OVERVIEW
The Manaslu and Tsum Valley Trek passes through the mystical, lesser-known northern valley protected from excessive tourism located near the Tibet border – Tsum Valley and circles and brings hikers near the world’s eighth highest mountain, Mt. Manaslu (8,163m) as well as gives thrilling adventure crossing the Larke-La (5106m/ 16751ft). Trekkers can enjoy an incredible view of mystic mountain peaks such as Himlung Himal (7126 m), Cheo Himal 6812 m, Larke Peak 6249 m, Annapurna II 7937 m and many more.
The traditional Buddhist/Tibetan culture and way of life in Tsum Valley, which is also a pilgrimage site, enhances the attraction by being unaffected by modernity. In these rugged and mainly pristine regions of Nepal, you will learn about the ancient customs of Tibetan Buddhism while taking in their unique daily rituals and way of life. One of Nepal’s greatest treasures of distinct identity is the Manaslu and Tsum Valley hiking, a mystical wonderland of Buddhist temples and nunneries, spinning religious wheels, and the deep-throated sound of long Tibetan horns resounding across the distances.
Immersed in the light of its compassionate inhabitants and their unwavering belief in the value of all life, this area is home to patchwork meadows, terraced farms, and the magnificent Ganesh Himal, all of which add their spectacular touch to the spectacular beauty.
The Manaslu and Tsum Valley Trek Itinerary starts at Machha Khola, which you travel to from Kathmandu. You will go through terraced fields and little settlements as you pass past Budhi Gandaki and into the community of Lapubesi. The trip to Tatopani ends in a hot spring spa where you may relax in the evening after passing through woods and smaller towns.
You may see Sringi Himal when trekking the Manaslu and Tsum Valley Trek to Philim. You will reach Chhokang Paro in the Upper Tsum Valley after traveling via Chumling, where you will be met with breathtaking views of Himal Chuli, Ganesh Himal, and Boudha Himal. On your route to Nile/Chhule, you will pass by Piren Phu (pigeon cave), a revered location with Buddhist murals, inscriptions, and carved stones, where you will stop to explore.
You will next visit the 3700-meter-high Mu Gompa before continuing on to the nunnery Rachen Gompa. You pass through rhododendron and pine forests as well as the Siyar Khola on the Manaslu and Tsum Valley Trek to Gumba Lungdang. After unwinding, you will go to Ganesh Himal Base Camp. Due to the dearth of proper lodging and amenities on the route to Lokpa, your next destination, you must begin early.
While traveling from Lokpa to Ghap and then to Lho, you will pass through the villages of Gurung and Thakali. At Samagaon, you will rest and explore the hamlet on a different day. From here, you gradually ascend to Samdo, Dharmasala, and then Bhimtang, where you cross the 5106-meter-high Larkya La pass. Following that, you will continue trekking to Dharapani, a famous stop at Annapurna Circuit trail, from whence you will board a public bus to Kathmandu, thereby completing your Manaslu and Tsum Valley Trek Itinerary.
