Nepal Tourist Visa

If you are considering how to acquire a tourist visa for Nepal, the most straightforward method is to obtain it upon arrival at airport, most probably, Tribhuwan International Airport TIA, Kathmandu or at designated immigration entry points if entering from India or Tibet.

Please note: Citizens from certain countries such as Nigeria, Ghana, Afghanistan, Zimbabwe, Somalia, Cameroon, Swaziland, Iraq, Ethiopia, Liberia, Palestine, etc., cannot obtain visas at Nepalese immigration entry points.

Requirements for obtaining a Nepal visa at the airport or immigration entry points include:

  • A valid passport with a minimum validity of six months and at least one blank page for visa stamping.

  • Payment of visa fees in cash or by credit card.

Please be aware that submitted visa applications remain valid in the system for 15 days. Ensure you apply within this timeframe from your planned arrival date at the entry point.

Visa Fees:

  • USD 30 or equivalent convertible currency for 15 days.
  • USD 50 or equivalent convertible currency for 30 days.
  • USD 125 or equivalent convertible currency for 90 days.
  • Free visa for up to 30 days for SAARC nationals (tourists).

Additional Information:

  • Indian nationals do not require a visa but must present valid identification (Passport/Voter ID/Citizenship) when entering Nepal by air. Children under ten years old must present a birth certificate.
  • Visa extensions are possible. The fee for extending a visa for 15 days or less is USD 30. After 15 days, an additional USD 2 daily charge applies.
  • Transit visas are available for USD 5 or equivalent currency for one day if required due to transit or force landing at a Nepalese airport.
  • It is illegal to enter or stay in Nepal without a valid visa.
  • Tourist visas can be obtained from Nepalese embassies, consulates, or at immigration entry points.
  • Once issued, visas cannot be amended, and visa fees are non-refundable.
  • Visa fees must be paid in cash; credit cards or checks are not accepted.
  • Visa fees do not apply to children under ten years old, but they must still obtain a valid visa.
