TRIP OVERVIEW
Manaslu Circuit Trek is one of Nepal’s adventurous treks, combining the heights of the Himalayas and its natural beauty with a rich cultural legacy and biodiversity. Manaslu, located east of the Annapurna range, is the world’s eighth-highest summit and has been accessible to outsiders since 1992.
The Manaslu Circuit journey is a strenuous journey that requires both expertise and high physical fitness. The Manaslu Circuit journey ascends along the Budi Gandaki River, which offers multiple rivers and waterfalls, to Larkya La Pass (5213 m), the highest point on the journey, with stunning views of Himalchuli, Manaslu (8156 m), Ganesh Himal, and other mountains.
Anyone is awed by the varied scenery and plants and animals along the way. The strenuous section of walking over the Manaslu circuit begins at Samagoan (3450 m), where you could be lucky enough to glimpse the icy green lake of Birendra.
The most difficult obstacle, however, is traversing the snow-covered Larkye La pass (5213m), which is 8 kilometers from the Tibet border and provides spectacular views of Himlung Himal (7,126 m), Cheo Himal, Gyaji Kang, Kang Guru (6,981 m), and Annapurna II (7,937 m). From Larkya La (Larkya Pass), we descend steeply down a snow-covered route to Tanbuche.
After that, we travel a little distance through stunning rhododendron, pine, and juniper woods to reach the banks of the Dudh Khola (Milk River). The alpine vegetation changes to subtropical greenness upon further descend. The trek then ends with a stroll across the Marshyangdi River to Besishahar.
14 Days In comparison to the more well-known walking routes in the Annapurna region, the Manaslu Circuit Trek continues to draw fewer hikers despite its growing popularity as a new hiking destination. Among other breathtaking vistas, the Manaslu Circuit Trek offers breathtaking views of the Ganesh Himal Range and Mount Manaslu (8163 m).
You will come across an intriguing blend of Tibetan-style Buddhist villages and real Hindu villages along the route leading to Manaslu Trek. From Arughat, the trek traces the magnificent Budhi Gandaki River to its source, which is located just beyond the Larkya Pass (5125 m). Starting low, at about 700 meters, you may see a wide variety of sceneries, from lush woods and verdant plains to breathtaking high-altitude scenery that skirts massive glaciers.
When there is snow, it might be difficult to cross Larke Pass (5125 m). But it’s well worth the effort because of the breathtaking scenery, which includes the majestic glaciers and the powerful Himalayas rising directly above you. The Budhi Gandaki and the Marsyangdi valley are connected by the Larke Pass. Before joining the main Annapurna Circuit road that leads to the trailhead at Besisahar, the descent goes through stunning alpine meadows at Bhimtang.
From Kathmandu, the Manaslu Circuit Trek is conveniently accessible. Arughat, Sotikhola, or Machhi Khola were the original starting points, but since roads have been constructed, many hikers now begin a little farther up the path at Barpak or Machhi Khola.
Soti Khola is the starting point for the Manaslu Circuit Trek, which concludes at Dharapani. The walk may alternatively be completed in Besisahar, which serves as the Annapurna Circuit Trek’s starting point. Among the several options is the itinerary listed below. Depending on how long your walking days are and where you start, you may make the voyage longer or shorter.
You can opt to tent or stay at the teahouses because there are simple guesthouses along the path. The Tsum region, a stunning, remote region where century-old Tibetan customs are still practiced, may be combined with the Manaslu Circuit Trek.
